Department of Chemistry
Department of Chemistry is established to undertake teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate level where strong foundations are laid facilitating the design and development of novel materials and processes to meet future technological challenges. The department offers Chemistry courses (core as well as electives) for B Tech Programmes of the institute and a M Tech programme in Materials Science and Technology.
Department of Chemistry contributes multiple scientific disciplines to drive advancements in material development, characterization, and application across various domains of Materials Science and Technology. This includes the development of specialized materials and technology aligned with space program and societal requirements. Presently, the department has 54 research scholars actively contributing to these efforts. Faculty members engage in interdisciplinary research, supported by funding from IIST and collaborative projects with ISRO, focusing on high-priority areas. The department facilitates state-of-the-art research infrastructure to enhance its capabilities across diverse scientific frontiers.
