Institute of Electricals and Electronics Engineers Student Branch (IEEE-SB) was established in IIST in the year 2011. It is a student-run organization of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), motivated to create a unique learning environment enriched by the challenges of the growing trends in engineering technology. In order to gather new knowledge and experiences from the technology and science leaders, IEEE units at IIST regularly conduct high-impact technical events to address membership’s needs and enable networking with national and international experts. We stand to nurture the spirit of innovation and creativity among the students at IIST.
IEEE SB at IIST was initiated by Prof. B. S. Manoj in the year 2011 with an initial membership of 20 UG students. Currently, we have formed four additional organizational units including SB chapters for the following IEEE societies: (i) Antenna Propagation Society (formed in 2018),(ii) Industry Application Society (formed in 2018), (iii) Microwave Theory and Technique Society (formed in 2019), and (iv)Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (formed in 2021). Each of these SB chapters are supported by an efficient faculty advisor giving valuable directions and mentoring towards professional growth of the members
