AeroClub at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is a student organization dedicated to fostering a passion for aerospace engineering and space science. The club conducts workshops, seminars on various 3d software, and hands-on sessions to make RC planes to enhance technical skills and provide real-world exposure. AeroClub organizes aeromodelling competitions, a dynamic platform for students to explore and engage in aerospace-related activities. Open to all IIST students, the club encourages innovation and teamwork, with a track record of success in inter-college competitions, contributing to the holistic development of its members. Aim of Aeroclub is to create a space where awesome aero geeks can come and transform their ideas into reality. It’s a place where people can come together work,bond and explore never ending horizons in flight.

Activities
The Aeroclub of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) had a dynamic and eventful year, engaging in a plethora of activities that showcased its commitment to aerospace exploration and innovation. The induction of new members marked the beginning of an exhilarating journey for the AeroClub, with fresh faces eager to contribute their passion to the club's diverse range of activities.
The club organizes flying sessions, providing members with hands-on experience in piloting remote-controlled aircraft. These sessions not only added an exciting dimension to the club's activities but also allowed members to hone their skills in aeromodelling and aeronautics.
The 2021 batch, displaying technical prowess and teamwork, successfully built two remote-controlled (RC) planes, "Chintu" and "F22 Raptor." The culmination of their efforts was celebrated with a memorable flying session.
The knowledge on modal aircrafts is further extended by adding advanced equipment to aircrafts like Flight controllers, GPS, magnetometers etc. This has allowed for fully autonomous flights. The helical path shown cannot be achieved by manually controlling the aircraft. Such precise paths need these kinds sensors to make the aircraft follow the trajectory.
Aeroclub played a pivotal role in organizing events during Conscientia 2022 and Conscientia 2023 , contributing to various competitions such as Techglide, RC car, RC Plane, and Water Rocket. The club's involvement in these events showcased its dedication to fostering a competitive spirit and technical expertise among its members.
In addition to these events, the club actively engaged in educational initiatives. Members took on the role of mentors, teaching juniors new aeromodelling software and techniques. This commitment to knowledge-sharing and mentorship underscored the club's focus on nurturing the next generation of aerospace enthusiasts within the IIST community. It has previously organized hands on session with Nirmann Club IIST to teach tribal school students the beauty of flight with interactive lectures and live demonstrations. Along with IEEE it jointly organized UAV design workshop for the students of both IIST and TKMC. It has also done free workshop on OpenVSP for the students of IIST. The club also conducts lectures and competitions in various schools in Trivandrum which helps college fests.
Aeroclub's dedication to pushing the boundaries of aerospace exploration and innovation was further demonstrated through its collaborative project with Jivyantra, the robotics club of IIST, as the academic year concluded. The club is for aspiring aerospace enthusiasts within the IIST community, consistently pushing boundaries and providing opportunities for growth, exploration, and skill.
