IIST conducted an educational outreach program for Class 8 and 9 students of Meghalaya at the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in Umiam from March 21 to 24, 2025. The initiative, led by Prof. Dipankar Banerjee (Director, IIST) aimed at promoting science education, is part of IIST’s vision to engage students across the country to explore the world of science and technology.

A team of IIST delegates met with Shri. Rakkam A. Sangma, the Honorable Minister of Education, Government of Meghalaya. The meeting highlighted IIST’s commitment towards promoting STEM education, encouraging students to pursue careers in science and technology.

Dr. Sarita Vig, Dept. of Earth & Space Sciences, was selected for participation in the Women in Space and Allied Sciences Leadership Programme (WiSLP) – Phase 2, held at Coventry University, United kindgom between 19 - 27 March 2025. The delegation included 13 prolific women scientists selected from across India of various disciplines.

The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) and Kerala Spacepark (KSPACE) have entered into a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering academic-industry collaboration and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the space technology domain.
